Conditions from official sources

  • Not needed with a valid US, Canadian or Schengen visa, or with legal residence in a Category A country; a Salvadoran consulate stamps the exemption in the passport before travel.
  • Can apply online for a Permiso Especial de Ingreso (PEI) at elsalvadorpei.migracion.gob.sv instead of a visa; once approved, it is stamped in the passport on arrival.
