Apply online through the Customs and Border Control Visitor Visa portal, no earlier than 3 months before travel.
Needs a passport with at least 6 months of validity and a police clearance certificate under six months old from the last place of residence; no police clearance is needed at age 71 or over.
Get the approved visa endorsed in the passport within three months of approval.
Not needed for a permanent resident of the United States, Canada or the United Kingdom who arrives directly from there (or from the United States, for Canada) with proof of residence and a return ticket; the stay is then up to 30 days.
